Precautions Regarding Use of Vehicle and Insurance

The following information is extremely important for ensuring a safe and enjoyable journey. While the content may be lengthy, we kindly ask you to read it thoroughly before making a reservation or rental.

1、Driving the Campervan

  • Driving characteristics and difficulty may vary depending on the model. Please be aware that driving as you usually do may be dangerous.

  • Compact models like the Amity resemble cargo vans and are highly susceptible to wind.

  • Drive under 80 km/h on highways to prevent rollovers. Large vehicles passing by can cause strong air pressure and move the steering. Watch out for wind gaps at tunnel exits and barriers. Plan for under 200 km of driving per day.

  • All passengers must be seated with seatbelts fastened during driving. (*Rear passengers sleeping while driving is extremely dangerous.)

  • Avoid sudden steering or braking. Many rollover accidents occur at highway exits due to misjudged speed. Slow down when turning.

  • Do not drive between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Wildlife like deer are active at night in Hokkaido, and any accidents may result in cancellation of your trip.

  • During reverse, the passenger must get out to assist. Due to the vehicle's size, blind spots exist.

  • Lost or damaged keys will incur a fee of ¥16,500 (tax included).

2、 Parking and Sleeping

  • Parking in non-parking areas is strictly prohibited. Each parking lot has different rules, please strictly follow them. Especially highways SA/PA and roadside stations are only parking lots, not camping sites. If you need to stay overnight in your car, please be aware of the dangers on the road. Parking in private places without permission will be considered illegal trespassing and will be punished. Some paid parking lots or roadside rest stops also prohibit overnight stays there. Tables and chairs must not be left in the parking lot, and the engine must not be running when parking at night. Be sure to follow the rules so that you can enjoy the fun of using the campervan in the future.

  • When sleeping in the car, please be sure to bring a sleeping bag or mattress to avoid sweat and body odor from contaminating the car. If you don't have one, you can consider renting one.

  • Please make sure that all doors are locked at all times. Failure to lock the doors during driving may result in accidents.

3、Power supply in camper:

  • Household outlets inside the vehicle require an external power source, typically available at paid campsites. The USB charging ports connected to the cigarette lighter are only suitable for low-power devices like smartphones.

  • The vehicle's battery capacity is limited. Depending on the model, some require connection to external power for charging, while others can charge while driving. Short daily driving distances may not fully recharge the auxiliary battery. Solar-equipped vehicles may not charge effectively depending on weather conditions.

4、Electricity usage information

  • For high-power appliances, use parking areas or campsites with power sources, or bring a generator.

  • Using high-voltage equipment may damage the vehicle's inverter fuse, leading to repair costs.

  • Auxiliary batteries primarily charge while driving, but due to self-discharge and minimal power consumption by camping equipment, voltage may drop even during driving. When not in use, conserve power by turning off unused devices.

5、In case of vehicle trouble or accident

  • For long-term rentals, we conduct thorough inspections before the vehicle is handed over. However, if you’ve been using the vehicle for a long period (around 5 days or more) or feel something is wrong, please perform basic daily checks such as tire pressure, vehicle condition, and lighting systems. Note that campervans may occasionally suffer flat tires due to side scrapes or running over foreign objects. In such cases, customers are responsible for the repairs.

  • If you damage the vehicle, equipment, or accessories, you must report it immediately when it occurs. You will only be charged for repair costs. If not reported, a business compensation fee of 100,000 JPY will be charged in addition to repair fees.

  • In the event of an accident, prioritize human life and immediately contact emergency services, police, your insurance company, and us. No matter how minor, accidents must be reported to the police, otherwise insurance cannot be applied. The vehicle must be returned on the day of the accident. Continued use after an accident and refunds for unused rental days are not allowed.

  • Although we inspect all vehicles and equipment before rental, malfunctions may occur during use. If a driving-related malfunction occurs, please take the vehicle to the nearest repair shop. For non-driving-related equipment failures, we will address them upon return. We appreciate your understanding. If the issue causes major inconvenience, we may offer compensation or a discount for your next rental.

6、Other precautions when using the campervan

  • The height of the campervan is around 3 meters depending on the model. Be cautious around parking lot entrances/exits, bridges, power lines, signs, gates, and trees.

  • Each vehicle is equipped with various features and equipment. Please make sure you understand how to use them before operating. Improper or excessive operation can lead to malfunction or accidents.

  • Always double-check the fuel type. Using the wrong fuel can cause serious damage.

  • Shoes are strictly prohibited inside the cabin except the driver’s seat. A 50,000 JPY cleaning fee will be charged for violations.

  • All vehicles are completely non-smoking, including electronic cigarettes like IQOS. Odors caused by oil or similar substances will also incur a 100,000 JPY special cleaning fee.

  • Only drivers with a submitted Japanese-translated license may drive the vehicle. No other person is allowed to drive.

  • Only one customer vehicle will be stored per group during the rental period. However, we are not liable for any accidents, theft, or vandalism.

  • Please check the standard equipment and bring any personal items you need. Rental and sales items are available, but quantities are limited, so we recommend booking in advance.

  • Full payment must be made by the specified date. Post-rental payment is not accepted.

  • The navigation system may not have the latest updates. Routes are for reference only. We are not responsible for any losses caused by incorrect route or time displays.

  • The dashcam may experience malfunctions or missing footage. We do not guarantee its effectiveness as accident evidence.

  • All passengers must be seated and fasten seatbelts where available while driving.

  • Only registered passengers are allowed. Do not transport goods or engage in illegal activities.

7、Violations, fines, and illegal acts

  • All traffic violations are the responsibility of the driver. Please report any violations to us. Unpaid fines will be collected by the company.

  • For parking violations, go to the designated police station to complete the required procedures and pay the fine. When returning the vehicle, present the "Traffic Violation Notice" and "Payment Receipt" with the date. If not, you must fill out an acknowledgment form and pay the fine along with a 5,500 JPY handling fee.

  • If the vehicle is returned late without contact, or suspected of being involved in criminal activity, or if requested by police or family, we may use GPS tracking to locate the vehicle.

  • Serious misuse violating laws, public order, or our guidelines will be strictly dealt with, including legal action and reporting to relevant organizations.

  • Personal information is only used for the rental process but may be disclosed if legally required.
